Review
Well, I didn’t hate this romance but I didn’t totally love it either! I was kind of bored. And a little embarrassed at times, like when the heroine describes her own dinner as feed. What is she livestock? I get the whole cowboy setting and attitude but come on, do people really speak that way?
The sex scenes were somewhat exciting but there was nothing spectacular going on. There was definitely some purple prose getting thrown around…you know, flowery language for body parts and functions. It seemed a little dated to tell you the truth, even though it’s a new novel. Maybe my tastes are a little too graphic for this kind of romance. I would think that this novel would appeal to the older women or the grannies…yes, I could see my granny reading this one and enjoying it.
I liked the story I suppose. Interesting mythology created. The Paladin’s fighting against the Others. The hero Jarvis Donahue is a Paladin; a being that can come back from the dead and heal incredibly fast and is fighting a war against the alien race known as the Others. It’s a secret war that the humans don’t know about, that is until he meets Gwen Mosely. Actually, I’m getting kind of bored writing about it…nothing surprising happens, they fall in love, there is a secret, the secret comes out and then there is a very minimally believable angry separation and suddenly clarity comes and all is forgiven…to be married, the end.
Nothing spectacular. Wouldn’t buy the rest in the series. But I didn’t want to throw it across the room and it wasn’t poorly written, although I did find a typo.
