Bloodrunners Series Book 1

Review
This is a werewolf romance and I really did love it. Read it in record time as well, just under two nights of reading. It is very sexy and the characters are well drawn out and interesting.
Alpha male Mason Dillinger is on the hunt for a rogue werewolf when he runs right into his life mate, and he can’t be angrier about it. He doesn’t have time for love, doesn’t want to give himself up to the threat of losing his mate, so he decides it would be better to keep her as a sex mate and not as a love bonded mate. The object of his affection, Torrance Watson, has other plans. Determined to live out a life from one of her romance novels, she refuses to accept Mason’s fear of sharing his love. Battling against her physical attraction to Mason, Torrance decides that she will do whatever she can to capture his heart. Oh, and the rogue werewolf tries to kill her a few times because he knows she’s Mason’s mate. The end.
There is one thing that I have to comment on that was something I both loved and hated, if that is possible, about Byrd’s writing style. She seems to be very gifted with her ability to paint a vivid picture using very expressive and unique language to describe a scene. This works incredibly well with all of the sex scenes…they left me panting to say the least. Unfortunately, they did not work as well in the slower moving scenes…basically, the scenes in between the action/fighting and the sex. At those points the description was a little too thick, to the point that I found myself tempted to skip ahead. I thought a few times that she really needed to get on with it. As well, there was some repetition of the word drawl…as a dialogue tag that really became annoying.
Don’t get me wrong though, I did truly enjoy the novel and will be sure to pick up another one of Rhyannon Byrd’s books in the near future.
Summary
That a woman who was his perfect match even existed. And that he'd find her in a bustling cafe. Yet just the scent of sweet, mortal Torrance Watson ignited a driving, explosive need to claim her that he knew his pack would never sanction. Worse, the rogue werewolf he'd been hunting had sensed that attraction and made Torry his prey. Forced to safeguard her from this ruthless assassin, who already posed a threat to his pack, Mason now faced the ultimate challenge. Did he have the courage to cross the line by sealing the blood bond that would make Torry his alone - a disloyalty few of his kind ever survived - or would he live an eternity without love?
